Help a Woof

Postby woofwoof » 04 Aug 2015, 02:00

Okay guys so um
You know how a while back we lost my dog, and I was pretty messed up about it (still am tbh).

Well anyway my family and I have been considering getting another dog just because we miss that companionship and everything but, I wanted to ask you guys...

What would be the pros and cons of getting another dog? We lost our dog in April, and I know it would be a lot of work-- considering I have a job and school-- to take care of another, but I want to hear the pros and cons from others, just so I can think of everything.

Plus, if I do decide to get one, I need to be able to convince my dad. He's still very much on the fence.

Anyway, if you guys could just kinda help out that would be GREAT!

pro: you can sleep with the new dog and won't feel so lonely every night with a warm ball of fur on/next to you
con: wake u up at 3 am to run in circles hoping u will run too

We want a small quiet dog to keep my dad company while everyone is away. My dad is sick so he stays at home by himself but he can't really do a lot because of his sickness so we need something calm. We're looking at dogs at our local Humane Society.

My dog died last year and we got a puppy in January. Your new dog does it's very best to fill the void left by your previous faithful hound. I cannot really see any cons.

Pros: Companion not only for your dad (what with the sickness) but for anyone who needs it. Simple fact, dogs care. It's a dog, which is a pro on its own. Something to cuddle and make you feel better when you're at your worst. Something you might just need sometimes to get through it.

Cons: Without proper training, you don't know how it'll act. And eventually, you'll face the loss again.

In my opinion, even with the bad bits, dogs are worth it. They're great companions and, at least in my case, always help you long-term, even after they're gone. They teach you to be better, kinder, more responsible.

What I'm saying here is seriously, do it.
