total chaos in the middle east. They seem to think removing their dictators will improve their lives and economies? Have these peeps had a look at how badly european countries are performing right now? Democracy will not necessary improve their lives, in fact it will probably lead to more chaos, more corruption, and more turmoil for the foreseeable future.
I'm hoping Iran is next. Of all the middle eastern countries it needs a new government and democracy.

all systems have their faults...
but if you get thrown in prison or even tortured and/or shot by a dictator, why not fight and have at least the hope that after you win things might be better.
when you take away hope from people, they will revolt, what do they still have to lose?

I don't think middle eastern countries can function without a good dictatorship in place. Find me a good democracy in the middle east (other than israel) - there is none.

Turkey
It's the only country that isn't really middle east and isn't really europe.
It's a country with many similarities to middle eastern countries but wit a secular state democratic government.
Where the military has the constitutionary DUTY to watch over this secular state.
(And yes, there have been some military coups in the past 80 years since, but they always returned power to the people.)

More European than middle eastern...
That counts for Israel too (even more so)
Israel might be in the middle east, their way of thinking is Western.
They're not muslim, they had a secular state from the beginning and they are allies with the west.
Whereas Turkey might be closest to Europe, geographically but has a middle eastern mindset. To which the secular state is actually revolutionary.
