Sp, even though this is pretty late it is pretty needed, but, can someone explain to me why Mummar Gadaffi was labeled as a supporter of terrorism and an evil man? I've done some extensive research on, and ever since he liberated Libya from the corrupt King, Gadaffi has spent billions and billions of dollars on health care, rebuilding infrastructure(hospitals schools, apartment buildings, etc) gave equal rights to women and black people, liberating women from the harsh treatment of average Arabic countries and women were allowed to wear what they pleased, gave free education and massively increased spending on Nation-wide healthcare and education. Gadaffi also supported and funded 27 countries in Africa everything he did in his own country, which was increasing fundamental democratic rights and healthcare and education and so on. He even proposed that Africa unite under a Democratic Confederation, where all countries come together as one country in Africa under a unified, non-biast and no country having more powe and/or representation than the other nation, working almost similar to the United States of America and it's states, proposing that all of Africa work together and spread their resources and money to modernize Africa. Gadaffi increased trade/economy and strengthened the African Union's unity/relations with others, economics and common military campaigns to put down terrorism in the continent. He was a strong supporter of ending corruption in Africa, supporting liberation and democratic movements.
He has been the Dictator of Libya for 47 years and the only thing that I have found that I disagree with him was getting into a war with Chad and Egypt. I haven't really been able to find any information on anything he did bad, and his citizens loved him so much. Before Gadaffi was killed by the Sudanese(claimed) army, he begged, "What did I do to you?"
Gadaffi angered World Powers when he began selling the Libyan Oil under an African currency, strengthing the African currency's value and boosting a couple African economies. This angered World Powers such as France, UK, and the USA. When Gadaffi was killed, Russia and Middle Eastern leaders were completely outraged, and Vladamir Putin, Prime Minister of Russia, had completely dissed, insulted, and looked down upon on almost every single NATO nation, especially the UK, France and the USA. Russia and the Middle East, as well as parts of South America and Asia were raged and furious at NATO for taking Libya out.
Ever since the Revolution and the Libyan Rebels have took over, so many citizens deeply regreted supporting Gadaffi out of power. Libya has utterly fallen from a 2nd world counry to a 3rd world country and since the Rebels have failed to keep peace, the crime rate has sky-rocketed and the Libyan people are furious.
So, can anyone please explain to me, what the hell Gadaffi did wrong? What did he do that enraged the West so bad? What did he do to deserve this?
A quick Question. What did Gadaffi do that was wrong?

he crushed anyone who opposed him. Jailed, tortured and killed any of his citizens that said anything anti his regime. At one time he was nurturing and funding terrorists organisations that were actively blowing up western targets and hijacking planes.
he mellowed out and decided to be a better person in the late zeros. However it was too late and his very own people wanted him dead. Too much pain and suffering under his rule.

I haven't even found that in any sites, and when I spoke to my relatives and teachers, they never even brought that up. They said he was bad for taking the Libyan oil back, and/or he bought corporations to do what he wanted to do.
The only stories I've heard of Gadaffi having people being tortured, were Libyan army generals doing that to try to regain control in areas during the Civil War.
Gadaffi, from the research I've read, was for the people. He was basically the Julius Ceasar of Rome(not exactly, but a close comparison)
Please give me sites/information saying that happened, because I never found that. .-.

So, letme get this straight.
When Libya tortures people who are against the State and ends up killing them, it's wrong and considered repressive.
But when the United States tortures SUSPECTED terrorists and ends up killing them, it's considered heroic?
Any Government in the world, whether it's a Democracy, a Dictatorship, an Islamic Republic, a Communist State, a Confederation/Federation, a Constitutional/Representative/Democratic Monarchy has a group of people in their country that is trying to take out the current government, that is seen as an act of treason and whatever the government is, they will immediately take them out and most likely torture them if they are seen as a threat.
Any country in the world would do that. So using that as an excuse to take him out is wrong. People who commit treasonous acts against the Government should be punished.

Re: A quick Question. What did Gadaffi do that was wrong?
the difference is, it isnt done one a systematic fashion to the citizens of the US. Gadaffi was doing it to his own people again and again for several decades. In the US you can protest against the government. You can easily and safely say how much the president sucks - u can go on national TV abusing the government. You do this in a dictatorship and you end up in jail, tortured and killed. If you oppose the government views, you will not end up tortured, you actually have a chance of voting the person out. This does not happen in dictatorships.
what the US does to people who 'threaten' their national security (regardless of how wrong or right it is) is a completely different issue.

I supported what shadow is saying there on the first post about the time when he was killed.
After all, the way I see it, he just did what all countries do, but in a less fancy way.
And of course, his country had/has oil and had self dependence so US and the UN had to save it from oppression and tyranny.

I agree with the second part there. If there wasnt any oil, the westerners wouldnt have stepped in to help. But that said, western countries were happy to leave Gadaffi in power once he mellowed in the last few years. Had the locals not decided to kill him, I think things might have gotten a lot better in time, with less turmoil.

Re: A quick Question. What did Gadaffi do that was wrong?
But Gadaffi did much more good than he did bad. I think the rebels should've at least kept him alive and sent him to the International Court of Justice and see what other countries thought.
His good completely overwayed(however you spell it) the bad he did. And, his people weren't incredibly repressive. Gadaffi's reign was probably the most less repressive dictatorship there was in modern history and the people had some basic fundamental democratic rights.

Gadaffi looked after his own tribal people. Everyone else was left to rot. That is one of the reasons why some people loved him and the rest despised him. I lived through the Gadaffi years. I remember all the crap he created for his own people and the rest of the world. I dont need to read history I saw first hand (however skewed it was).
