Now, there is theory that music can be used to heal many things such as stress and depression. I have experienced this before as well. Do you think this is true? And I would like to know how it does. I have my own theories however I don't have the full story so I would like your take on how you think music helps with emotional problems.

yes, music can help relieve stress if it is the right kind of music. It will not solve all the worlds problems.

it varies from person to person much like anti depressants. its all about how you're "wired". for instance a person who is easily stimulated by music would be greatly affected rather than someone who has little caring for any music. it could also have to do with the memoriesa person has, like if they a tie a certain song to a certain memory, it can have a drastic affect on their emotinal stability and makeup, depending on how powerful the memory is.

Different music makes different people feel differently. Personally, most of the songs that affect me emotionally make me happier, just from the sound. A few remind me of times when I used to listen to that type of music, and make me happy even if the song is melancholy (Blurry, by Puddle of Mudd, for example). Then there are the songs that make me teary, for whatever reason.

Not sure where I was going with this anymore. Maybe it was the effect of music depends on the listener, and types of music only generally follow patterns in the emotions they instill.

Oopsies. I think I added something to it, though. Types of music traditionally thought to make you feel one way or another do not always do that. Like emo music; it won't always cause you to cut yourself etc.

I think this is true. Music CAN help people. If it has helped people in the past, weather to get over something, or plainly express yourself, wich many today artists do such as Adele, Lady Gaga, and Ke$ha. These artists express themselves in their music.

If you have done your research on Lady Gaga, which I doubt you have, before she became famous, she was known as Stefani Germanotta. Lady Gaga was the auto correct changing "Radio" to "Lady". Anyways.. Lady Gaga as a child, and all through-out her life, was constantly bullied. For being different. She wasn't afraid to show her real self, and a lot of people didn't like that. She was teased for her fashion (yes, she had some weird fashion stuff back then too) And how much she focused on making her hair so pretty, (which I find odd that kids would do, since almost every girl cares about her hair) and some other stuff too. Most of her friends always put her down, including her boyfriend at the time when she pursued her music. Lady Gaga's work is hard to figure out, and if you really think about music, and who Lady Gaga is, you can see why she did such things. And yet, some of her action, I still can't figure out. But, if you actually try to think about her music, you will understand her meaning, and you won't think she is so crazy. She just expresses herself in what she does in a different way then other artists, and is more hard to understand.

Shadow, I doubt you would put ANY form of effort to even understand this artist, and continue to criticize her. It's funny when people do this, because they refuse to look at the real picture, not stereo-type comments and rumors, and just judge a person on ONE action, or performance.

Well, if she got bullied while young as in pic #1, then science forfeits. But anyways, you might see a slight difference. She actually looks cute in first pic. Sad.


For your info, lady gaga is said to have taken her name from queen's "Radio Gaga". She was greatly influenced by queen, and wanted to be just like freddy, most say that's why she plays the piano, instead of just singing.
Do not misjudge me, i hate pop to its roots. Like only 2 exceptions. I prefer BANDS, that play MUSIC using lots of musical INSTRUMENTS.
Now, for your info. I don't know why you like lady gaga so much, even though i have some suspicions, but you should know, that the less people that like something, the better it is for them. Example: if i tell a joke and all of you laugh, it'll be ok.
But if i tell another one, that only 4 people on the whole site understand it, it will suck to you, but they will die laughing. Same happens here i believe.
And at least prove this wrong: the majority that listens to lady gaga are girls ranging from 8-16. That is the majority.

I like pink floyd. Only a few people nowadays like psychedelic rock music, and even less like 23 minute songs that use about 4 words throughout the whole thing. But i find their music excellent, and it relieves all of the stress i could have. Especially some of their solos (high hopes, dogs, sheep, comfortably numb for all the other fans) get my mood to undescribable heights. They will be my favorite band ever, forever
