I seem to remember the charges being similar to spying or disrupting the peace. Considering the military is in charge there and the upswing of the Muslim Brotherhood, relations between Egypt and the United States are becoming increasingly tense.

I hesitate to say the charges are baseless, but anti-foreigner sentiments are growing as the government releases statements about outside agitators being responsible for acts of violence.
