Just a pointer:
Every invention is checked for possible military uses, and after 3 years or so it's released for the public.

Not really. I'll tell you a story.
2 months ago,we had a black out. Nothing of big deal.
After that though, the pc wouldn't start normally(blue screen etc), TV needed a manual complete reset. To make a long story short, the ONLY electronic device that worked immediately and as it should, was the blender.
50 years of technological bloom, and only ONE household device works properly...
Another example: about 40 years ago, some scientists created a robot that could avoid objects. Today, all a robot CAN do,basically, is to avoid obstacles.
Or a more well-known matter: PCs. My first "pc" was my uncle's amiga. That thing worked AWESOME (plus,I was 5 at the time,so it looked kinda like alien tech)...
After some years, i changed to a regular pc. Windows 7 if I'm not mistaken. Even though i tried everything not concerning me spending more than 100€, i couldn't play the (first) Half Life game. My father told me,I still recall,"don't worry,it'll run perfectly fine on the next gen. Pc." when we DID get that, guess what. It had AWESOME graphics, but it still wouldn't work ok. So we are basically improving on ONE area, for an extremely long time, but what is basic just fails big time.
