Re: Countries and their nukes
I think that nuclear research is something we SHOULDN'T play with. It can kill so many people, destroy so many things ect. We don't even need it. All it does is kill people, and destroy land. And, we don't even fully understand it!

Re: Countries and their nukes
It all started when that guy had the smart idea to split the atom. As i was told once "Smart people are stupid."

Funny. Do you know that more people were killed in drillings than in nuclear reactor disasters? Perhaps you are referring to the nukes, not nuclear research.
Also, lets check some facts: Chernobyl accident was at a time, when a reactor without a protective "shell" was considered a great idea. Fukoshima (isnt that the name?) reactor was in a critical position due to a massive earthquake+tsunami. Lets check some other facts though. Perhaps you believe nuclear research is made by those inhumane scientists that have childhood traumas and want to see the worls burn. Perhaps you are not aware, that the people that are against research in some sectors are much like the people that burnt scientists because they were "pawns of the devil" or "witches". If these people had prevailed, we would never go to outer space (among others), and a usual person's life wouldnt go over 60 years of age.
So i believe, that these very scientists that are now researching nuclear power, may one day start drilling on asteroids for metals (they actually are. First drill on an asteroid is planned for 2013)... You get the main idea, i hope.
What you seem not to get, is that because most people dont even understand the term "nuclear research", nobody does. False. Anyone that is inside the study of nuclear research is aware of it.
As for this:
Yes. What a moron that guy must have been huh? I mean he knew that his creation would only bring death. Why would he go on with such a thing? Or even better. Lets blame the guy that invented gunpowder. After all, he killed all those people. Or even BETTER, lets blame the guy that used fire in order to survive winters, because he caused pyromanics to exist. That way, without inventions things would be so much better, hunting animals with bare hands and eating one another when out of food...Karamix3 wrote:It all started when that guy had the smart idea to split the atom. You should consider that what ALLOWS you to live for over 30 years, to post on the internet, to sleep safe at night, to have central heating during winter, to watch tv, to do about 99% of what you do in your life, is science and smart people.
And trust me, there were people to go against tgem too when they first came about. Im pretty sure they skinned the guy that tought them how to use fire, because he was destroying the environment.
Sorry for long post, but lets not forget why we are considered a superior species, shall we?
Re: Countries and their nukes
As you said, the guy who split the atom knew what he was doing could kill and also the guy who invented gunpowder. But the guy with the fire thingy did it and saw that it was worm. He did it and cooked meat. He died and people started using it to kill each other, so the starting ideas is what counts.

The guy who split the atom was researching atoms, then later his research was used to make the nuclear bombs we know today. Gunpowder was first used to make fireworks, not to shoot people. You can't know what the guy who found fire actually did, no one existing can, because it was so long ago and there's no legit evidence that has been found about it.

ok *sheepish defeated face* i yeild
Re: Countries and their nukes
Interesting! Never new that many nukes exists.
All I have to say is, nukes are just used as a deterrence, so I'm hoping that will be enough to avoid full scale annihilation.

Re: Countries and their nukes
Shadow, I do mean nuclear research, and nukes, everything involving nuclear research. I know it CAN help, but I believe it's just something that we shouldn't tamper with. It's so easy to mess up with it, and a lot of people can get hurt and die.
I do see benefits with the energy part, and some nations use nuclear energy to help their economy, but i just believe it's something we shouldn't have played with.

Ofcourse i respect your opinion, but energy coming from nuclear plants is safer to produce (do you know more than 2 accidents that happened due to the plant itself? (and chernobyl wasnt even well built fyi) than coal energy is. Do you have any idea about how many people died in mining accidents? And because not every country can get wind turbins/solar panels, and petrol is running out (btw, you do realise that by ising petrol for most of our needs we wont have medicine in some years, right?) we need another safe source of energy. And (apart from hydrogen), guess which one im talking about...
