I agree with the second part there. If there wasnt any oil, the westerners wouldnt have stepped in to help. But that said, western countries were happy to leave Gadaffi in power once he mellowed in the last few years. Had the locals not decided to kill him, I think things might have gotten a lot better in time, with less turmoil.
The locals, sure.
Because they were totally not funded and influenced by other parties.
