I'm not a massive fan of Star Wars and reluctantly saw it with my parents of all people. It was OK but riddled with issues, mainly because it was more of a remake than anything. Like, I sat through the whole thing thinking, "I've seen this movie twice already. The big bad all-powerful empire has a giant planet-thing with a big laser in it that can destroy planets, but the rebellion finds a weak spot, flies inside, bombs the crap out of it and it explodes. How original." Not to mention, the settings were a) A sandy, desert scavenger planet with Jawas and the main character B) A green planet with trees and lakes everywhere that the rebels use as their hideout and C) A snow planet where the action takes place. OH I CAN'T THINK WHERE I'VE SEEN THAT BEFORE.
Besides that, a few other things bothered me. Big silver cool-looking stormtrooper chief played by that hench woman from Game of Thrones was BARELY in the film and only served the purpose of rolling over ridiculously easily to the protagonists.
KYLO RENN LOOKED SO COOL until he took that mask off and turned into a 12-year-old. (Also he took it off too soon; he should have taken it off when killed Han Solo and he asked him to take it off [I also disagree with killing Han Solo, regardless of whether Harrison Ford wanted it])
Ray discovered the force and lightsabers and 15 minutes later was able to defeat one of the best sith masters in the galaxy.
Finn also was an instant lightsaber-fighting expert.
John Boyega put on an American accent rather than using his natural Peckham roadman accent. Why cast two British Londoner protagonists and give one an American accent? Be consistent. Particularly when one is from Westminster (posh) and the other Peckham (not posh); perfect opportunity for some juxtaposition right there.
Personally, I don't think the acting was great, either. It seemed cheesy and corny (probably because of all the puns).
So yeah, that's coming from someone who's not that into Star Wars.

A few things I have an issue with, you don't like Star Wars that much, if you watched the Original Trilogy, you would understand the puns. Star Wars was intentionally campy, and that was one of the selling points of the Franchise.
I agree about the way they used Captain Phasma, though. I feel like the acting was quite stellar, for a bunch of C list actors, with very little prior experience. I agree with the death of Han Solo as well. The way Kylo Ren looks should not be that much of a surprise. He's an adolescent. He's Han solo's son.
I wish they stayed with the storyplot of the books written after movie 6, bc it was much better. They flipped everything around, Luke is suppose to have a wife and kids and the New Republic is suppose to be continuously fighting the Empire, not "The Resistance" and Ray is suppose to be Ky's sister and it's all just kinda stupid.
AND THEY COMPLETELY SKIPPED OVER ADMIRAL THRAWN LIKE WHY DID YOU DO THAT???? HE WAS SO PERFECT!!! AND YOU ALSO SKIPPED OVER THE GENERAL OF THE GALACTIC EMPIRE WHO RISES TO BECOME EMPRESS MAN SHE WAS SOOO COOL TOO HOW COULD YOU
augh it's stupid
but i mean the storyplot they're doing now is good i guess
i also like how they showed that Leia is force sensitive, for she felt han solo die. idk about ya'll but when i walked out of the movie theatre a lot of people complained about that and i had to tell complete strangers that the offsprings of light and dark jedis are force sensitive and leia is force sensitive so yes. i'm done.
flob does have a point though that movie 7 was just like 4-6
