there lies the problem. People are too stupid to hide their details and facebook does nothing about it - it encourages people to add more about themselves!

put too much on, and someone could find out where you live, or even steal your identity.

More of a problem there,People want more likes on their status and other bs so they will choose not to make it private, and even if it is private, who says one of your close "Friends" can't Post that Information out...

exactly.

unlike other sites... e.g facebook, we dont encourage people to release personal information to the world.

FWG, that's not the problem. They have the option if they want to do that or not. Them not knowing about it, isn't really a problem. It just shows they don't care. They could've asked a friend or family member how to change their private settings to be safe. Those that don't do that, don't care.

And, with the arguement with Sphinx and Ducky, you both have a good point(i know this is late) but Ducky's was a bit better. Yeah, the mods were being a complete hyprocrite with the post your picture topic, then this, but that's not a rare event where that happens. xD Though, what ducky said, it is actually extremely hard to track someone with JUST their picture. and nothing else. But, Sphinc had a really good point. Made me kind of disgusted with myself and others too, since i did comment on it numerous times. ._.

This trend is getting on my nerves.

Did your parents told you to don't talk to strangers and don't give your personal information?

Well, for what i know they advice their children that for safety, but some of us didn't listen to our parents and we disobeyed them even though we knew from the start that it was for our own sake and at the end something bad happen to us.

I am not telling not to make some new friends but I am telling that we should

Mmm, what you said it true bruv but some people do think before hey click and still do what is not right. You never know what the outcome can be unless you observe it carefully. People could seem to be lying to you but insdie they're telling the truth. People could be tellling you the truth... They could be telling the truth and inside, lying to you.

Facebook DOES have an official age limit. But that doesn't prevent younger people from joining.

the problem is, the target audience of fb is everyone, including stupid kids who know no better than to add anyone and everyone, just to get their 'friends' numbers up. It is a sad situation and I hope to see it end one day. Death to FB!
