The Coco De Mer Palm tree has seeds that can weigh up to 45 freakin pounds. It takes 8 years for the seed to germinate. Crazy.

Did you know that the saltiness of the ocean is caused by the tears of sharks who just want to be cuddled? Picture related.

Researchers in Japan cloned a mouse using a single drop of blood. It's cool how easy this stuff is getting. Or scary.

Have no access to hallucinogenic drugs? Fear not! Here is a legal and yet less socially acceptable way to trip at at home!

Snails on the Great Barrier Reef can jump the equivalent of their own height in order to evade predators. Then they slowly float back down into the predator's gaping maw. Nice.

This is more of a funny story about how stupid some people are than a fact. Scientists drove a drill 3km down into an Artic lake that had been undisturbed for at least 15 million years, and extracted all kinds of cool samples (DNA from more than 3500 organisms, for example).

Big cats in the Amazon are capable of imitating the cries of baby pied tamarins (http://www.clemetzoo.com/whats_new/images/2010-11_pied-tamarin-baby.jpg) or the distress calls of a baby monkey. In doing so, they can lure more prey.
