This is a headless chicken named Mike. Mike survived for a year and a half after someone botched his butchering, leaving his jugular and most of his brain stem intact. He was fed with a dropper, and traveled around the country before what was assumed to be a choking death.

So you know scientists have developed ways for people to control machines using brain implants? My next fun fact (whenever I get around to writing it) will cover a much more portable and less invasive procedure.

As for the implant thing, researchers have developed a temporary "tattoo" to be placed on the forehead that allows remote control of objects using brain waves. This includes robotic arms, and UAVs are currently the focus. The "tattoo" is a near-transparent, thin piece of plastic with some circuitry that wirelessly connects to the object the user wants to control.

This is so amazing because it can allow portable and cheap remote control of objects, as opposed the the invasive and expensive brain implants usually reserved for those with disabilities.
